“Rompiendo Barreras” is Spanish for “Breaking Barriers.” The name reflects the organization's commitment to removing social and economic obstacles that prevent individuals and communities from thriving.
Rompiendo Barreras is a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking barriers of poverty through education, outreach, and sustainable development. Founded in 2008, it carries forward a legacy of compassion and service that began decades ago in Peru.
The organization was inspired by the lifelong work and values of founder Gladys’s parents. Her father established a school for the blind, and her mother—who named the organization—embodied quiet strength and service. Their example laid the foundation for Rompiendo Barreras' mission.
